Operation Encompass Safeguarding Statement

OUR KEY ADULTS ARE: Laura Tranter and Mandy Cox

Our school is part of Operation Encompass.  This is a police and education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people who experience Domestic Abuse.

Operation Encompass means that the police will share information about Domestic Abuse incidents with our school soon after they have been called to a domestic incident.

All Key Adults (Designated Safeguarding Lead/Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead) have attended Operation Encompass national online training.

Our parents are fully aware that we are an Operation Encompass school. The Operation Encompass information is stored in line with all other confidential safeguarding and child protection information.

The Key Adults has also led briefings for all school staff and Governors about Operation Encompass, the prevalence of Domestic Abuse and the impact of this abuse on children. We have also discussed how we can support our children following the Operation Encompass notification.

At Etruscan Primary School, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

We are committed to creating a school where every child feels safe, listened to, respected and valued. We work closely with children, families and other professionals to identify concerns early and make sure children receive the right help at the right time.

Our safeguarding approach includes:

  • protecting children from abuse and neglect
  • supporting children's emotional health and wellbeing
  • keeping children safe online
  • promoting positive relationships and respectful behaviour
  • preventing bullying and child-on-child abuse
  • teaching children how to recognise risk and seek help
  • supporting attendance and helping children who may be vulnerable
  • safer recruitment and regular safeguarding training for staff
  • working with parents, carers and external agencies when additional support is needed.

We believe that it could happen here, so we encourage everyone in our school community to notice concerns, listen to children and act when something doesn't feel right. This reflects the approach set out in KCSIE 2026.
