    History Curriculum Aim

At Etruscan, our aim is to provide a broad, inclusive and ambitious history curriculum that inspires children to be curious, inquisitive and enthusiastic about the past. From EYFS onwards, children develop a secure understanding of chronology, knowledge and historical concepts, enabling them to make meaningful links between people, events, civilisations and periods studied.

Through the development of six core historical skills—chronology, similarity and difference, continuity and change, interpretation, cause and consequence, and significance—children learn to investigate and interpret a range of historical sources, recognise that the past can be viewed from different perspectives, and form and justify their own opinions using evidence. History provides opportunities to question, discuss, debate and explore how the legacies of people and civilisations have shaped the world in which we live.

We aim for every child, regardless of background or starting point, to develop their historical knowledge and understanding, engage confidently with challenging ideas and be well prepared for the next stage of their education.
