At Etruscan, our aim is to provide a broad, inclusive and ambitious geography curriculum that inspires children to be curious, inquisitive and enthusiastic about the world around them. From EYFS onwards, children develop a secure understanding of places, people, environments and geographical processes, enabling them to make meaningful connections between their local area, the UK and the wider world.
Through the development of key geographical knowledge and skills, children learn to use maps, fieldwork, data and other geographical sources to investigate and understand the world. They explore physical and human geography, recognise similarities, differences and connections between places, and develop an understanding of how geographical processes and human activity shape the environments in which we live.
Geography provides opportunities to question, investigate, compare, discuss and debate geographical ideas and issues. Children learn to use evidence to reach conclusions, communicate their findings and develop informed views about the world and our responsibility towards it. We aim for every child, regardless of background or starting point, to develop a strong geographical knowledge and understanding, engage confidently with geographical enquiry and be well prepared for the next stage of their education.
