    English Curriculum Aims

At Etruscan, our English curriculum is built around high-quality, engaging texts and is supported by Pathways to Read, Pathways to Write and Pathways to Spell, which provide a clear and progressive approach to developing children’s reading, writing and spelling skills.

Pathways to Write uses high-quality texts to inspire children’s writing and develop their vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure and composition. Pathways to Spell provides a structured approach to spelling, helping children develop secure spelling knowledge and apply it confidently in their writing.

We encourage children to read widely and regularly through our well-stocked school library and class reading areas, which offer a diverse range of fiction, non-fiction and poetry from a wide variety of authors and perspectives. Our recommended and carefully selected texts support breadth, diversity and progression throughout the school.
