    MFL Curriculum Aim

At Etruscan Primary School, we value Spanish as a means of developing children’s confidence, communication skills and understanding of the wider world. Our vibrant, inclusive and progressive MFL curriculum, supported by the Language Angels programme, develops the five core skills of speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar, while building on prior learning and preparing pupils for Key Stage 3 and beyond.

From EYFS and KS1, children are introduced to Spanish through songs and rhymes, greetings, numbers, colours, daily routines and cross-curricular activities, fostering curiosity and enthusiasm for languages and other cultures.

Throughout the school, pupils develop an understanding of similarities and differences between Spanish and English, as well as an appreciation of different cultures and lifestyles. We have high expectations for all pupils and provide appropriate challenge and support so that every child, regardless of ability or background, can make good progress from their individual starting point.

Our aim is for children to enjoy Spanish, communicate with increasing confidence and develop the skills, curiosity and global awareness to become enthusiastic and capable linguists.
