Welcome to Year 3A Miss Grocott

Autumn Term 2018

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to the autumn term; we hope you had a good break.

Over the next 8 weeks the children will be tackling the Learning Challenge Curriculum question, ‘Why do people choose to holiday in Spain?’ We will be introducing the topic to the children on Thursday 13th September when the children will get a taste of Spanish life with our Spanish experience afternoon. For further information regarding coverage during this topic please see the attached overview.

PE:

Year 3LG will have PE lessons on a Monday afternoon.

Year 3KP will have PE lessons on a Wednesday afternoon.

Please ensure that your child has the appropriate kit. The PE kit is a white t-shirt, black shorts or black leggings and black PE pumps.

Reading and homework:

As always, please ensure that your child is reading at home every night with an adult. Children also have access to Bug Club at home where they can read further books appropriate to their ability.

All children will continue to receive Maths, English and spelling homework on a weekly basis to be returned the following week.

Etruscan has recently introduced ‘Times Table Rockstars’ which is a fun and interactive way for children to practice their times tables. Your child has an individual log in, which can be found in their reading diaries. Please find the link to the website below.

If you have any questions, please see us on the playground after school or make an appointment to come in to see us.

Thank you for your continued support.

Miss L Grocott, Mrs K Pine and the Year Three team

On Monday 19th June, Year 3, year 3/4 and year 4 took part in a ‘Taste of the Mediterranean’ presented by Junior chef. The children became chefs for the day and used traditional foods from various Mediterranean countries to make a fruit crunch. They were guided through the experience and learnt about the origins of the fruit and vegetables and explored some of the human features from each country. The children had a fantastic day and they all had a chance to learn some cooking skills and try new foods.
